Our clients’ arranged a mortgage of £61,200 and were sold an insurance policy on top to cover sickness and unemployment costing £58.79 per month. They were told that they had to have the policy or they could not have the mortgage. The terms of the policy were not properly explained either. Our client was refunded all the premiums paid to date of £4,250.88 plus interest of £1,280.32.

These clients took out a personal loan of £49,000. The loan company added £17,664.50 to the loan as a “lump sum” premium to cover payment protection insurance. The clients were then left to pay interest and capital on a far higher loan than necessary. Our clients were refunded £3,612.59 representing the capital and interest they had paid on the unnecessary borrowing to date and their loan was reduced by the £17,664.50.
